- For binary antipodal signals, the best receiver computes the weighted
  average of the received signal over each bit period.
- The required weighting is equal to the pulse used to transmit a ``1'' bit.
- This demodulator or receiver produces (on average) the smallest
  number of wrong  decisions or bit errors.
- The receiver computing weighted averages is extremely important. It is
  often called the matched filter receiver.
- If the signal set is not binary or antipodal, the receiver below must be m
odified.
