ECE 630: Statistical Communication Theory

Biosketch

Bernd-Peter Paris was born in Munster, Germany. He received his Diplom-Ingenieur degree in Electrical Engineering from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, in 1986 and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX in 1990.

After being with the Public Switching Division at Siemens in Munich, Germany, for one year, he accepted a faculty appointment at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA where he is currently an Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Paris is engaged in research in the area of communication systems, with emphasis on mobile, wireless communication networks, and information theory.

Dr. Paris is the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in 1986 and of the NSF Research Initiation Award 1993-1996. He is a senior member of the IEEE and of Eta Kappa Nu.
